Most KYC (Know Your Customer) processes can be frustrating in my experience.
There is often not enough information about what is expected from the user or what went wrong when the documents can't be verified. It can also be difficult to amend the documents that are required in certain edge cases.
I was exploring a solution for identity verification using the built in camera of a user's smart phone for a self portrait and a photo of one official government document.
There is inline feedback on document errors so that users can understand if the images meet the criteria before to prevent errors.
Users also has the flexibility to upload supported documents in .jpg format in cases where the physical documents might be temporarily unavailable or out of reach.
There is also a clear CTA that gives users a way to contact the company if the process failed, and a way to save and exit the flow to return to finish it at a later stage.
